Day 1 SOFIA
Arrival at Sofia International Airport. Transfer to the hotel. Welcome drink. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Sofia - the capital of Bulgaria and one of the oldest cities in Europe - with 7,000 years of history. Visit to the Archeological museum where the Vulchitrun treasure is exposed - the earliest valuable set for ritual drinking on the Balkan Peninsula. It is the most remarkable example of the art from the Later Bronze Age in Thrace (15th-13th century BC). The perfectly shaped and carefully polished 13 ritual vessels weight 12.5 kg solid gold. Overnight in Sofia.
Day 2 SOFIA - PLOVDIV (160km)
After breakfast, departure for Plovdiv - founded by the ancient Thracians during the 1st millennium BC, they were proud over their Evmolpia for centuries. The pearl of ancient Thrace was conquered in 342 BC by Philip II of Macedonia who renamed it Philipopolis. Sightseeing tour of one of the most ancient cities in Europe. Afternoon trip to the Bachkovo Monastery - the second largest monastery in Bulgaria. Dinner in a special restaurant built up on a Roman fortified wall. Overnight in Plovdiv.
Day 3 PLOVDIV - PERPERIKON - HISAR
Travel to Perperikon Fortress, nearby Kardjali town to the south. Meet with the archaeologists - your guides in Sacred City and temple of Dionisius, who uncovered the mystical land of the Thracian's Singer - Ortheus. Departure for Hissar - famous Bulgarian spa resort. Overnight.
Day 4 STAROSEL - KAZANLUK (180km)
Brief tour of the town and departure for the village of Starossel - the Thracian burial tomb here is the most impressive monument of the Thracian political and cultural power of the Odris Kingdom, the strongest state at that time on the Balkan peninsula. The most complete Thracian cult centre (5th -4th century BC) between the Danube river and the Aegean Sea could be compared to the burial ground in Micenae. It is the biggest complex of its kind discovered in Bulgaria to date with the largest temple in the Thracian lands. Drive away to the town of Kazanluk - ancient Thracian city Saevtopolis - capital of the Odris Kingdom (5th-6th century) Now Kazanluk is a small town located in the world's only Valley of Roses. Visit of the famous Thacian Tumb (4th century BC) - UNESCO site. Overnight in Kazanluk. (B)
Day 5 KAZANLUK- SOFIA (250km)
After breakfast, visit to the Museum of History where the finds from the ancient Saevtopolis are exposed. Drive further to Sofia. Farewell dinner in a folk restaurant with performance - excellent cuisine, rich selection of wines and folklore programme, featuring the unique dance on glowing embers. (B, D)
Day 6 SOFIA
After breakfast, drive to the foot of Vitosha Mountain for visits to the National Museum of History. The most impressive are Varna golden treasure (6th - 5th century BC) - the oldest crafted gold in the world, created by the oldest civilization in Europe, founded on the territory of Bulgaria, the world's famous Thracian gold treasures: Panagurishte treasure (4th century BC) - royal set of 9 exquisitely shaped vessels, weight 6.164 kg, 23-carat gold; Borovo silver treasure (4th century BC) - 5 vessel drinking set; Letnitsa treasure (4th century BC) - 24 square or rectangular scenes of mythology and everyday life, and many more. In the afternoon - time for leisure and shopping. Departure for Sofia International Airport. (B)
