Ribaritsa is a village situated near the little town of Troyan, approximately 140 km away from Sofia and 74 km away from the town of Lovech. The village is located in Stara Planina Mountain, at an altitude of 600 m. Its popularity of a rural tourism destination is growing fast.
Ribaritsa has population of nearly 1000 people. In 1963, it was named a mountain climate resort. Tsarichina preserve is located nearby. It happens to be one of the oldest protected areas in the country. More than 600 plant species can be observed there. Rare animal and bird species inhabit the preserve as well, some of them being predatory birds, brown bears, wild goats and wolves.
Day-time activities include renting a mountain bike and taking a ride, hiring a guide and exploring the area or fishing. Tourism services developed fast lately. Ribaritsa has its eco-tourism center where visitors can get information about the sites and activities in the region.
